Research project title
Metabolism of environmental pollutants
Research description
My laboratory uses analytical toxicology tools to understand how environmental pollutants move around in our body and, ultimately, cause adverse effects. A particular focus are environmental contaminants, such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and organochlorine pesticides, that are found in surface waters.
Undergraduate minimum qualifications
Background in chemistry or related fields. Experience in analytical chemistry are a plus.
Undergraduate role
The undergraduate student will work with me and laboratory members to study processes involved in the disposition of environmental pollutants in mammals. The student will learn how to extract, purify and analyze the environmental pollutant in different biological samples.
