Water quality and river and stream ecosystems are very important for almost all living creatures on the planet. As statisticians, our role is to model and interpret information concealed in stream network data. In my dissertation, I take the three key factors of fluvial system modeling – flow-connectedness, stream distance and water flow – into account and work on the problem of jointly identifying spatial dependence structure on a stream network and providing accurate fit to data.
