Biography

Orofacial clefting (OFC) is a common birth defect that occurs due to complex genetic interactions. OFC can occur due to aberrant development of the embryonic oral periderm. My research focuses on elucidating the architecture of the gene regulatory network governing oral periderm development in zebrafish. In particular, we have focused on the role of zinc finger protein 750 (Znf750) in zebrafish periderm development and have identified a novel missense ZNF750 variant in an OFC patient.
