Biography

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a disease in which the body’s immune system attacks the central nervous system, causing progressive disability. We have identified a subset of immune cells (called CD8+ T cells) that is capable of suppressing, preventing and treating disease in animal models. We can even boost these protective cells using a novel vaccination strategy. My research focuses on understanding the mechanisms of these cells and how to enhance them for use as treatment.
