Immaculate Edwin
Born in India and raised in Iowa, Immaculate Edwin is a Ph.D. student working in the laboratory of Dr. Adam Dupuy. Her research focuses on uncovering mechanisms of resistance that arise in patients with recurrent low-grade serous ovarian cancer. This rare cancer is not well studied, and her work aims to generate insights that could ultimately lead to more effective treatment options for patients.
Immaculate earned her B.S. in Genetics from Iowa State University, followed by a M.S. in Health and Human Physiology from the University of Iowa. While her passion for genetics began in undergrad, it was solidified during her master’s when she was introduced to emerging molecular techniques. Specifically, her interest in cancer research stems from witnessing her grandfather’s battle with cancer, which inspired her commitment to advancing cancer research.
Looking ahead, Immaculate wants to pursue a career as a Medical Science Liaison, a role dedicated to bridging the gap between medical science research and healthcare. Outside of academic pursuits, Immaculate enjoys kickboxing, traveling, hiking, cooking new recipes, and hanging out with her friends.
