The Winifred S. Scott Scholarship provides financial aid for students who are studying child growth and development. Awards are competitive and based on a student’s academic record and indication of financial need. Students whose tuition is fully paid by another source do not qualify for this award.Awards are competitive and based on a student's academic record.

 

Value

Award recipients will receive up to a $6,000 tuition scholarship depending on credit enrollment. The Winifred S. Scott Scholarship is a one-semester award and is not renewable.

 

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must be studying child growth and development and can be in any department or program and at any stage in their academic progress.

Online applications must include the following items as separate PDF files:

Student materials

  • Statement of educational goals and plans related to child growth and development (no more than 300 words).
  • Explanation of financial need (no formal documentation required)

Letters of support

  • One letter of recommendation from a University of Iowa faculty member in the student's department or program

Applications must be submitted online by the student’s department. Students must submit their part of the application materials to their department at least two weeks prior to the Graduate College deadline. Students should check with their department as soon as possible for departmental deadlines as well as inform them they intend to apply. Applications submitted by the student (and not someone in the department such as the DGS, DEO or grad coordinator) will be voided and not considered.
