Andrea Malek Ash

Measuring Invisible Things

Andrea Malek Ash is finishing her PhD in Teaching and Learning with an emphasis in Science Education, and her MA in Educational Measurement and Statistics. She also holds an MS in STEM Education from the University of Iowa, and a BA in Biology and Spanish from Luther College in Iowa. As a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellow, she investigated effective learning environments and how they shape students’ relationship to science knowledge. Her current research focuses on student agency as well the statistical measurement of teaching and learning. Andrea also loves working with students. She has taught biology and chemistry to 6th-12th graders, and science and pedagogy to undergraduate future teachers.
