Social Vulnerability to River Floods in the U.S.
Asif is a third year PhD student at the Department of Geographical and Sustainability Sciences and works with Professor Eric Tate. He completed his MS degree in environmental science and management from the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom and a bachelor’s degree in urban planning from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in Dhaka, Bangladesh—his home country. His research focuses on the interaction between social vulnerability and flood hazard and people’s perception about their vulnerability. He hopes his research will help reduce the impact from future flood disasters. Outside his work, Asif loves to spend time with his wife, traveling and trying out different cuisines.
