My research focuses on the convolutional encoder-decoder type of networks along with its applications in medical imaging and manufacturing. I investigate the encoding mechanism of image features in the central latent vector and the visualization of them in the original image space. Through a case study with lung cancer patients, we discovered several potential biomarkers encoded from CT and PET images that might have strong correlation with their overall survival outcome.
