Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death and the second most common cancer in the United States. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a lung disease that causes obstructed airflow in the lungs and is a leading cause of death in the United States. The goal of this dissertation work is to develop image registration tools to improve the treatment of lung cancer and COPD.
