Ionic liquids (ILs) are salts which are liquid at room temperature. Their unique properties make them excellent candidates for applications in electrochemistry, lubrication and catalysis. ILs are in contact with solid surfaces in most of their applications and the properties of liquids in an interfacial region are very different from that in the bulk due to molecular ordering in that region. This research aims to understand the behavior and interaction of ILs at solid-liquid interface.
