My dissertation investigates the re-emergence of celebrity feminism in the early 2010s and what it reflects about the contemporary state of gender relations. There is one overarching question driving this project: What does celebrity feminism have to offer us in terms of its world-making capacities? Seeking an answer, I analyze the multi-directional relationship between the phenomenon of celebrity and feminist activism to illuminate the potential of celebrity feminism in popular culture and beyond.
