The process of development relies on proper expression of genes at the correct time and place. One way a cell can regulate gene expression is through RNA binding proteins. These proteins bind to and regulate RNA expression. Recently, the RNA binding protein rbm24a has been identified as a crucial component in both eye and heart development. My research aims to determine what are the target RNAs in both the eye and heart.
