Biography

Cavitation is a very significant multiphase phenomenon concerning different engineering applications like propellers, turbines, pumps, etc. To prevent the damaging effects of cavitation, the prediction of the onset of cavitation (inception) is critical. In turbulent liquid flows, unresolved pressure fluctuations in the subgrid-scale of the CFD restricts proper estimation of cavitation inception. This dissertation focuses on developing a statistical Cavitation Inception model and applying the model to the subgrid-scale of an unresolved CFD simulation.
