Individuals with damage to particular regions of the prefrontal cortex often experience dramatic changes in their decision-making abilities and their personalities. These symptoms have been labeled as acquired sociopathy, but it is unclear how they compare with actual psychopaths. My research investigates exactly which psychopathic are linked to damage in different brain regions. This helps us better understand both the consequences of brain damage and the neurological underpinnings of psychopathic traits.
