Biography

My research focuses on how the energy producing part of the neuron, called mitochondria, affects neuronal function. More specifically, my research investigates how mitochondria contribute to normal neuronal activity as well as different aspects of animal behavior including memory, anxiety, and motor skills. Additionally, I study the role of mitochondria in neuronal pathologies such as strokes and seizures while simultaneously researching new mitochondrial-targeted interventions for the treatment of them.
