I conduct computational research on engineered nanomaterials and their impact on the environment. Due to the increase use and production of lithium-ion batteries, greater amounts will end up in landfills and aquatic systems. The mechanistic understanding of these processes can only be obtained through the atomistic level information provided by computation.
My work explained interactions of lithium-ion battery cathode materials in water, and we use that understanding to provide design rules for future battery materials.
