Employees are motivated to maintain fit and alter misfit in workgroups. Yet, research has mainly focused on attitudinal reactions; whereas, the behaviors employees engage in to manage their fit have been underexplored. In pursuit of fit, employees may use impression management tactics to control the images that others form of them. This research examines whether and why employees engage in particular tactics in pursuit of fit and what happens after they do so (improves/hurts fit).
