Biography

Cardiac fibrosis is a devastating complication of diabetic cardiomyopathy, but its molecular underpinnings are incompletely understood. My research focuses on studying the role of metabolism of norepinephrine, a neurotransmitter, in the heart as a driver of cardiac fibrosis in diabetes. Through a series of in vitro experiments investigating the pharmacology and cross-linking reactivity of norepinephrine and its metabolites, I’ve demonstrated their capacity to promote fibrosis.
