Biography
Electrospinning is a versatile method used to produce non-woven materials comprised of micro- or nanofibers. My dissertation utilizes electrospinning to address two ongoing public health crises: PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) contamination of drinking water and the shortage of medical personal protective equipment (PPE) during the COVID-19 pandemic. Via electrospinning, I have developed filter materials tailored specifically for PFAS detection and removal in water supplies, or for use as alternative filter materials in PPE.
