Medicaid expansion significantly increases the demand for medical services, but what about the supply? It is not clear how the expansion affects physicians' behavior. In my dissertation, I investigate how physicians respond to Medicaid expansion. I found that physicians' total working hours did not change, but physicians reallocate working hours to patient and non-patient care activities differently prior to the expansion. Further, I examine whether physicians respond to the expansion differently across the level of physician concentrations.
