My research seeks to understand how penal change is framed and sought after by individuals who work within the criminal justice system. Specifically, I hoped to uncover the barriers and catalysts to providing adequate recidivism reducing programs for women prisoners. After interviewing and observing a variety of criminal justice workers, I analyzed how criminal justice actors’ different worldviews, resources, and status impacted how they engaged with and implemented evidence-based practices in a women’s prison.
