Exceptional Performance Awards

 

An employee may receive up to 10% of their salary in flexible pay per fiscal year. If the recommended award for any single award is over $5,000, the recommendation must be reviewed and approved by University Compensation and Classification. If a second recommendation for the same employee is received in the same fiscal year, and the cumulative amount is over $5,000, it must be reviewed and approved by University Compensation and Classification. An employee may receive a flexible pay award a maximum of two times per year.

All requests will be reviewed by the Director of Human Resources & Finance and the Dean of the Graduate College within 14 business days of the receipt of the request. After a decision is made, a written notification will be provided to the unit director. Nomination Form.

These requests should be directed to Tanesha Herman and must include the following information:

  • Name of the individual.
  • Amount of request (up to 10% of base salary).
  • Source of funds—if the source is sponsored research grants or contracts, additional review may be needed to ensure that this would be an appropriate expense and consistent with federal and agency funding guidelines.
  • SAccomplishment(s) described in 500 words or less.

     

Spot Performance Awards

 

SPOT awards may be dispersed at any point throughout the year. SPOT awards of $150.00 or less (de minimis awards) may be awarded up to 4 times per year to the same employee with a minimum of 30 working days separation.

A brief description from unit director directed to Tanesha Herman (nomination form). This description must include the following information:

  • Name of the individual
  • Amount of award
  • Source of funds
  • Brief description of accomplishment

All requests will be reviewed by Director of Human Resources & Finance and the Dean of the Graduate College. Notification will occur within 7 business days.
