How do vulnerable road users respond to traffic safety information presented to them through technology?
Jeehan Malik is a PhD candidate in the Computer Science department at The University of Iowa. Her research is in the area of Human-Computer Interaction, specifically aging. For her dissertation, she is exploring how traffic information, presented to older and younger pedestrians in different ways, impacts their street-crossing behavior. Her research gives insight into design guidelines for pedestrian safety applications and age-related differences in technology use. This research is conducted with an interdisciplinary team, and they use a virtual simulator called the CAVE to carry out their pedestrian behavior studies.
