2022 Information

The Graduate College is sponsoring its 15th Annual Summer Undergraduate Research Conference on Wednesday July 27 (1:00 – 5:00 pm) at the Iowa Memorial Union, Main Lounge. This conference will bring together undergraduate students who have been conducting summer research projects in UI departments and programs across the University's colleges. The registration deadline is Wednesday, July 13 at 5:00 pm.

Since participants present their work to the university research community, the event serves as an important professional development opportunity for students preparing for careers in research.

One-third of the students are participants in the Graduate College's Summer Research Opportunity Program. The other summer undergraduate researchers are sponsored by several University departments and programs, and additional funding is provided by the U.S. Department of Defense, the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation.

Students in these UI summer research programs work directly with faculty mentors. The research programs help the university recruit talented students, many of whom may choose to continue their work at the UI as graduate scholars.
