Biography

Patients with Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) display an increased softening of brain tissue as well as an accumulation of amyloid-beta (Aβ) plaques. My research aims to understand the role of this tissue softening in AD pathology by looking at the behavior of neurons when plated on gels with varying mechanical stiffness. We can better understand the disease progression by looking at the amount of Aβ plaque formation and the toxicity when plated in these softer environments.
