Emotional responses influence individuals’ participation in social situations and may impact their overall emotional well-being. In my dissertation I am investigating the effect of hearing loss on emotional responses. Specifically, I want to determine if subjects’ emotional responses reflect the listening difficulty and effort experienced by them in difficult listening situations, like understanding speech in noise. I will measure their emotional responses by recording their facial expressions and analyzing it using a facial recognition software.
