Dynamical systems arise in vast and diverse areas of science and society. Its analysis helps us understand the long term behavior of evolving systems. Hence, the classification of dynamical systems is important. In my thesis, I employ algebraic invariance properties (e.g. cohomolgy groups) of dynamical systems for solving the classification problem. I also develop graph-theoretical network models (called Bratteli-Vershik models) of dynamical systems. This allows me to use powerful graph-theoretical tools in new classification schemes.
