Damage detection and health monitoring of mechanical and structural systems have becoming vital during recent years in many fields, including aerospace and civil engineering. In the present work I introduced a novel methodology for damage detection and health monitoring of structural and mechanical systems. The new approach uses the angular velocity, via a gyroscope in different mathematical forms, to detect, locate, and relatively quantify damage.
