My research focuses on acoustic cues in the speech sound signal which are used for speech perception and differentiating sounds. Specifically, using production and perceptual experiments, I will investigate the Spanish acoustic cues that differentiate voicing categories of consonant sounds (e.g., p versus b) and how second language learners of Spanish adjust their production and perception of acoustic cues that may differ between Spanish and their native language, English.
