Biography

Magnesium is one of the most prevalent ions in a cell and is essential for many cellular processes. Until recently, the importance of magnesium in human health and disease has been undervalued. To better understand its role in different diseases, we need to observe its function in specific cell types. My dissertation research studies magnesium in pigment cells and dopaminergic neurons, using the zebrafish larval model system.
