My project charts the evolution of the British State’s patriot address to its civilians during the emergence of Total War in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century by attending to the periodic and popular writing of the time period and its critical reconfiguration in concurrent literature. It is an opportunity to take stock of both writing recruited as part of the war effort and writing produced in response.
