Biography

My dissertation attends to the media underpinnings of confessional poetry from Robert Lowell to Kamau Brathwaite. It explores the role twentieth-century recording and broadcast technologies played in giving voice and lyric form to traumatic experiences that might have otherwise defied expression. These mediacentric explorations in memory serve, ultimately, to tie contemporary literary trauma theory to earlier transformations in the circum-Atlantic mediascape.
