Edo Mwenda

Biography

Edo is a native of Tanzania, also known as 'The land of natural wonders'; his father is Tanzanian, and his mother is from Rwanda. He is fluent in Swahili and English and spent two years of high school in Hong Kong at the Li Po Chun United World College doing the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. He earned his PhD from Department of Chemistry in The University of Iowa in 2018. At Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH), he’s part of the Intellectual Property Core and Office of Science-Industry partnerships team. This team helps researchers and clinicians evaluate their technologies for commercialization, protect their ideas through the patent or copyright process, and transfer technologies into the marketplace and startup formation. Outside SCH, Edo is a passionate entrepreneur building startups that create a better future globally. His entrepreneurial focus lies at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and life sciences/biotech. He also enjoys reading, volunteering, traveling, and hiking.
