Biography
To experience the world, we depend on the ability of our neurons to encode information in a meaningful way. Failure of homeostatic systems that help neurons control their activity may contribute to conditions like migraine and epilepsy. In my dissertation, I use the fruit fly neuromuscular junction as a model synapse to study how vesicle release can be increased or decreased to maintain neuronal activity within physiologically meaningful levels.
