Infants use sensory experience to build functional brain networks and produce functional behavior. My research seeks to understand the pathways involved in early sensory processing by recording neural activity in behaving infant rats. Characterizing these pathways—and the functions of the individual structures along these pathways—will help us better understand the factors that enable the development of this critical system and how its development supports behavior in early life.
