Biography

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative movement disorder that can become life threatening. PD is caused by the selective cell death of the dopamine (DA)-containing neurons, however, the cause of this cell death is unknown. The aim of my thesis is to determine important contributors to this neurotoxicity by exploring changes in synthesis, metabolism, and regulation of DA along with the toxic products that are formed during these cellular processes.
