The Non-Rigid Image Registration Evaluation Project (NIREP) is designed to evaluate non-rigid image registration algorithms. Image registration is used to find correspondence between two different medical images. Unfortunately, there is no "Gold Standard" to evaluate Non-Rigid Image Registration performance. The goal of NIREP is to provide tools to evaluate image registration algorithm performance using a standard set of metrics.

The web site will be the main way to disseminate information about the project. It will describe evaluation algorithms, evaluation metrics, and evaluation databases which can be downloaded by the user. Users will be able to contribute to the web site by describing their own algorithms and submitting results for comparison with other registration algorithms.

Details pertaining to how the results were generated and the parameters that were used will be fully disclosed. Articles will be posted that compare and contrast the results from different registration algorithms. Users will be able to post articles as well as comment on other articles. The web site will provide researchers with a guide for understanding and evaluating image registration algorithms.
